31 May How to manage your anxiety while on the journey of being curious
While on the journey of being curious, you will find yourself filled with a sense of excitement, intrigue and interest. But like many things in life, you can’t have the good without the bad, so among the feelings of joy, you might experience feelings of fear, insecurity and concern.
The fear could be centred around whether we will find the information we are searching for or maybe it’s about ourselves and whether we will be okay during this journey. Or we might even feel completely overwhelmed and not know where to start.
While these feelings may seem like a setback or obstacle in your journey, trust that you can and will overcome them.
Here are a few helpful and practical things tips to help you navigate your way through the stressors that you’ll meet along your way.
It’s totally normal
Know that it’s normal for feelings of insecurity and doubt to come up and that it happens to everyone.
Look back at your stellar record
Think back to a time when you were curious and these feelings came up but you made your way through it anyway. Ask yourself what got you through it and how you can apply it to the new situation you are facing.
If they can do it, so can you
Think about someone that you admire and think about how they deal with those feelings and what you can learn from them.
Write it out
Journalling is a great way to see your thought patterns and help you change any patterns that are holding you back. Try to write down everything that the insecure voice says, and see if you could flip the negative narrative and feelings, into a positive one. For example, what would empowering yourself look like?
Visualise it
When the going gets tough, visualise yourself satisfying your curiosity and how great it will feel once it works out.
